September 17, 1999 It had been almost three months since being discharged from a two week hospital stay after my suicide attempt. Having no home to go back to I was lucky enough to have a caring boss, Chet, that allowed me to stay in a spare bedroom. Chet and Joann were wonderful people. I still owe a great deal to Chet for saving my life for it was he that found me unconscious in my foyer after not showing up at work for two days. Transgender or Transsexual
There’s been an ongoing heated debate by some transsexuals to separate themselves from the “transgender umbrella”. They claim that legislators find it difficult to allow a person that identifies as male, but dresses in female clothing to use the ladies room. Rightly, all debates about inclusion workplace protection center around “gender identity” or “gender non-conformance”. You can listen to a recording here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwIfckTlMcY It really caused me great consternation when I heard the story of Andrea Jones on WATE channel 6 last night. Jones had visited her local Tennessee driver’s license office to attempt to have the gender marker on her driver’s license changed from “M” to “F”. Of course, she was refused. From the WATE report: The rules regarding change of gender marker are dictated by the Tennessee Department of Safety. They will change the sex on a (more…)
