Comedy in Tragedy

I’ve been reading other people’s blogs postings about the arson that destroyed Carol Ann and Laura Stutte’s home last Labor Day. The comments that following these postings are normally sympathetic with some asshat occasionally accusing the couple of burning down their own home. I ran across one comment that was unlike any other so far. The writer summed up the situation well. I was taking a drink at the time and the spontaneous laughter made me gag and choke: He’s right. Blatant Bigotry?

Hand it to the folks at Best Value Plumbing to spread some holiday cheer. It seems that a fellow member of Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church contacted this plumbing company to help with a stopped drain at a rental home that he owns. The Armor of Ignorance

I read an interesting quote today: “Against logic there is no armor like ignorance. Laurence J. Peter” This quote aptly describes the opinion of Tennessee congressman Zach Wamp when contemplating hate crime legislation. A friend of mine from the Tennessee Transgender Political Coalition, wrote to Representative Wamp and this was his reply: The use of violence against any innocent person is wrong, regardless of that individual’s race, religion, nationality, or sexual orientation. Crimes of violence should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Every jurisdiction in the United States prohibits battery and murder, and I doubt strongly that (more…)
